The gallery occupies the former stables of the Scotch Thistle Inn, built in the 1830's.

Extensively restored, the sandstone building now houses quality art sourced from the many talented artists found in Tasmania as well as from the mainland and overseas.

Business Partners Helena Havu and Debra Spohn have brought together a collection of art which includes paintings, glass, ceramics, sculpture and photography. Their aim is to exhibit interesting works and to showcase and encourage the talent of emerging artists.

The gallery atmosphere and collections of art can be enjoyed while you walk through one of the earliest colonial buildings of Ross. Beneath the floor remain colonial stone drains, above; the roof with timbers held by hand-made nails and the doors still swing on original hand forged hinges. The building itself constructed of Ross stone, quarried by hand, pick-dressed and set in lime mortar.

In December 2005, during the first year of business, the gallery was awarded the 'Tidy Town's' Best Overall Commerce/Industry Award.
