Artist's Statement

This painting is built up with layers of glaze, to give a mirror-like, reflective quality, and the oil paint has been dried slowly, on a flat surface.

The vast, far-reaching expanse of ocean includes intricate forms.

The figure is visually connected to the breaking wave. Possibly the wave is breaking over a reef, or a submerged boat, or some other object. Alternatively, the wave could be symboloic, signifying an approaching difficulty in life.
